厄除詣り発祥の社

　黒住神社の項でも触れたが、京都市左京区の吉田山（神楽岡）散策は、楽しかった。単に迷っただけだが、単純に京都観光しただけでは感じ取れなかった、ことの空気を知ることができたように思う。

　黒住宗忠神社が神楽岡にあるのは、吉田神社が関連している。黒住宗忠が死去した後、高弟の赤木忠春が、我が師に信号を賜ろうと、神道の総家元である吉田神社に請願した。
　神道の総家元というのは、神職の任免権や神号の認定などの権利をすべて、吉田神社の宮司が握っていたという意味で、桜井神社を創建した黒田忠之も、吉田神道を学ばせようと、浦氏を京都に派遣した。

　宗教的に、天皇を教皇と例えると、吉田氏はバチカンの枢機卿のような存在だろうか。とにかく、絶大なパワーを持っていて、神号の認可なんて、人間の力を超えた権利だ。

　とはいえ今日の吉田神社は、そんなモノモノしい雰囲気ではなく、清々しいスカッとした神社さんである。
　ボクが訪れた日は１月10日で祭礼も特になかったが、婚礼の儀が執り行われていた。まだまだ結婚する予定はないけれど、神社で挙げる神式の結婚式は、厳かでいいなぁ。白無垢もいいなぁ。
　見ているだけでケガレが祓われるような光景だ。

　吉田神社は厄除詣り発祥の地ということで、節分大祭がことに有名らしい。
　

この世をば我が世と…

　さて、お参りだ。拝殿の向こう側に見える本殿は４社が連なる春日造で、建御賀豆智命（たけみかづちのみこと）、伊波比主命（いわいぬしのみこと）、天之子八根命（あまのこやねのみこと）、比売神（ひめのかみ）の４柱で、総称春日神という。
　福岡県には春日市があるが、地名の由来は春日神社があるから。春日神社の祭神も上の４柱だが、いずれ触れることもあると思うので、割愛。

　吉田山は東山三十六峰に数えられ、古くから霊山として崇められていた。平安京の鬼門（北東）にもあたることから、貞観元（859）年に、中納言藤原山蔭が奈良の春日大社から勧請したのが創建と、ある。
　以来、藤原氏全体の氏神となった。

　藤原氏といえば「この世をばわが世とぞ思ふ望月の欠けたることもなしと思へば」と詠んだ藤原道長を筆頭に、教の都はおろか、日本中に荘園を持って実質的に支配した貴族である。
　藤原氏の氏神であれば、都の鎮守とされるのも当たり前。藤原氏の権勢（数百年に渡って！）を支えたすごいご神威だ！　と思ってしまう。
　都で何か災害が起こったか、藤原氏のピンチがあったか。藤原不比等が創建した奈良の春日大社を勧請したのは、そんな所だったんではないだろうか。

　鎌倉時代からは、吉田氏が神職に就いた。徒然草の吉田兼好も一門。室町時代には、吉田兼倶が吉田神道（唯一神道）を創始。神官の任命権を得て、江戸時代には神道本所として、全国の神社を統括した。
