杉山稲荷神社

われ、動かず

　西新パレスの裏側に、ちょこんとおわす杉山稲荷神社。
　ちょこんとしているが、よくよくうかがってみると、清掃が行き届いていて居心地良さげなお宮さんである。

　しばし道ばたから眺めていると、妙齢のお姉さんがせっせとお掃除してくださっていた。
　こういう方は、神さまの使いだと思っているので、「こんにちは」と声をかけてご参拝。

　石の鳥居のあと、赤い鳥居の連なりをククッと曲がって、さらに石の鳥居をくぐる。
　赤いおべべの眷属さん（狐さん）に会釈をして、拝殿へ。

　電信柱も赤く塗られていて、その塗料も風化しつつあるのが、またおもむき深い。

　ずっとお稲荷さんがコワかったけれど最近、大人になったからかコワさもやわらいだ。赤い鳥居の連なりは、大変失礼になるのは承知で書くけれど、ハトとかアリなどといった生物の“群れ”のようで、ちょっと気持ち悪かった。

　稲荷神社におわす狐さんも、中には正視に耐えられないほどキツい表情をされた方もいて、それもいわれなき恐怖心を増幅させるのに役立っていたんだと思う。

　こちらの狐さん、とくに左の方は「ちょこん」としていて、えさを待つ我が家の愛犬（狐だが）のように愛くるしい。

　と一通り御参拝したあと気づいたら、このお宮には御由緒がない。
　境内の灯籠や鳥居に刻まれた奉納年月日を見ると、歴史がありそうなのはわかるが…。

　ちょうどお姉さんがいらっしゃる。聞いてみよう、と声をかけた。

お賽銭はフンパツを

　「私はここに住みはじめてから日が浅いけん、よう分かりまっせん」と前置きしながら、お姉さんは杉山稲荷神社のことを、ポツリポツリと語り始めた。

　かつて、このあたり（西新パレスのブロック全体）には紅葉八幡宮が鎮座されていた。杉山稲荷神社は境内社だった。
　大正時代に、紅葉八幡宮が現在地に遷宮される際、杉山稲荷の神さまは「われ、この地より動かじ」という御神託をし、地元の氏子さんたちは神さまの意志を尊重して、同地にて杉山稲荷神社をお守り続けた、という。

　紅葉八幡宮が遷宮されたのは、後日紅葉八幡宮の会で（もしかしたら）詳しくご報告するつもりだが、ご神域を北筑軌道の線路が横切り、騒がしくなったから。
　お稲荷さんは商売の神さまなので、このような雑踏もしくは騒がしさがキライではなかったのかもしれない。

　ともあれ、我が意を守ってもらった神さまはお喜びになり、このお宮を参拝する人々の願いを叶えてくださっている、そうだ。

　「私の聞くところ、たいがいのお願いは叶っていますよ」（お姉さん）。

　そううかがって、居ても立ってもおられなくなり、最初から参拝し直したが、いざ柏手を打つと何を願っていいんだか、分からなくなった。
　「次に来た人のお願いを聞いてあげてください」。
　柄にもないが、ちょっとペイフォワードな心境になったのだ。

　本殿の脇には、ちょっとした参道があり、その先には小さな石の祠があった。
　もともとはこの祠が本殿だったかも？
　また、ちょっと曰くありそうな石碑がたつ庭もあったが、この辺りのことは、お姉さんも知らない様子だった。

　杉山稲荷神社は、願い事を聞いてくださる神さまとして、地元で尊崇されている。
　何か願いがある方は、ぜひ参拝してみるといいだろう。

　ただし、それは神さまを大切にお祀りしている地元の方のご尽力のお陰であることに感謝してから。杉山稲荷神社を維持する活動資金となる、お賽銭はちょっとフンパツしてほしい。
