聖地・高宮へ

　本殿でお詣りをすませると、そのまま帰る人が多いけれど、それだけで帰るのはもったいないです。
　宗像大社辺津宮の敷地は広大で、沖ノ島の国宝が展示されている神宝館など、見どころ満載です。第二宮、第三宮まできちんとお詣りした方が、ご利益もきちんとあるような気もするし。

　辺津宮の敷地には、ちょっとした裏山みたいな小高い丘がある。この頂上に、宗像三神が降臨したという高宮祭場があるのだ。ここは、神社もしくは神道の信仰の原点ともいうべき、神籠（ひもろぎ）・磐境（いわさか）が、太古のまま残っているのだ。

　坂道を上ること10分ほど。木々が茂り、時おり木漏れ日が目に刺さるが、外の熱気が感じられないほど、清浄な空気が漂う。聖地というだけあるね、ホント。登り切ると、そこが高宮。
　ああ、なんか感じるなー。写真の中央、木のあたりからビリビリビリビリと来るなぁ、というのが当日の印象。この地に三女神が降り立ったのだとすると、わざわざ三柱を三つのお宮にそれぞれお祀りしたのは何故なんだろう。んんー、分からん。

　高宮からは、宗像一族の交易港といわれる釣川河口のあたりが望見できる。入り船、出船の様子が分かるわけで、この丘から出船を見送りながらの安全祈願を、入り船の感謝のお祭りをしていたんじゃないかなぁ、というのはボクの想像。
筑前大島の中津宮もそんな感じで、どちらも船を見送り、出迎える人のためのお祭りの場だったのではないだろうか。

　船の乗組員は、陸地や島からの祈願の声が届かなくなった沖ノ島で、主体的に航海の安全を祈願していた、というような絵が思い浮かんだのですが、どうなんでしょう。
