早く世界遺産になりたいっ

近ごろ福岡に何かと縁のある吉村作治さんを引っ張り出して、沖ノ島および宗像大社を世界遺産に！　という動きがあるらしい。最古の遺跡は４世紀にもさかのぼり、大和朝廷の成立にも何らかの影響があったかもしれない沖ノ島遺構は、とても貴重なものだと思う。
　がっ、こんだけ世界遺産が乱発されるとなー。

　世界遺産に登録されるには、日本から年に何カ所、みたいな申請の規定があるらしく、その順番待ちで何年も待たなければならないそう。
　「世界遺産登録を！」というと、意識が高いように聞こえるが、実質「大河ドラマ篤姫の舞台、指宿へようこそ！」と同じような町おこしスローガンになっているところも多いらしい。それならば「大河」の方がボクにはまだ魅力的で、効果的な気がするのだが、どうなのだろう。

　はっきりいえば、世界遺産なんかもう、ありふれている。源平合戦、戦国時代、幕末。時代設定はこれくらいの大河ドラマの舞台になる方が難しいかもしれん。沖ノ島もしくは宗像は、大河の舞台になるのは、まず無理だろうから、世界遺産を狙う方が現実的かなあ。

　沖ノ島そのものがご神体で、今なお女人禁制。島内のものいっさい持ち出しならず。
　発掘調査で出土した８万点の神宝すべてまとめて国宝に指定されたものだから、通称「海の正倉院」。今でも厳しい入島制限されている（釣り人がこそっと訪れているらしいが）この島を世界遺産にしたいという気持ちは、純粋なところなんだろうなぁ。

　ところで、ボクにとっての沖ノ島は、そんな古代ロマンあふれるところではない。今も１年に１回くらいは読み返す“燃える”歴史小説「坂の上の雲」（司馬遼太郎著）で、日本海海戦前、東上するバルチック艦隊を最初に発見し、通報したのは一体誰なのか？　というスリリングな場面で、沖ノ島に一人常駐する神官さんの話が出てくる。
　バルチック艦隊はどの海上に現れるかで、連合艦隊の運用が大きく変わる、つまり戦局を大きく変える場面で、この島が登場したことだけでも、どんだけ交通の要衝だったかがわかるではないか。
